It is with great pleasure that I offer my support to Herstreet. I
have always felt a twinge in my heart to imagine what life must be
like for homeless women. When I was offered the opportunity to venture
"beyond appearances," I didn't hesitate to respond.
Because of its serene atmosphere, the day centre at the Olga House
facilitates human contact. There, I discovered lovely women who communicated
with me in an atmosphere of confidence. I witnessed the work of staff
who, day after day and with great generosity, encourage these women
to move forward. I felt a great deal of love coming from Léonie
Couture, Herstreet's founder. The feeling of belonging, self-esteem
and dignity is very present among the participants.
The first time I set foot in the Olga House,
I felt like I was being showered with drops of sunshine. As a spokeswoman
for Herstreet, I want to share the enthusiasm and recognition that
I feel during each new visit.

I support Herstreet because I know how easy it is to stumble, to slip
between the cracks, to slide downhill and to become invisible to society.
I understand how lonely you can feel when the world's hypocrisy plays
havoc with your mind. When you can't find or even look for a job or
an apartment. When you can't count on family or friends. When fate
is cruel. Our society blames those who find themselves living in misery
and tends to turn its back on them. Herstreet is a refuge and a haven
for these women who feel lost and marginalized. And so I offer my
whole-hearted support.
